Tomich House by Iwan Iwanoff
Restoration Architecture: Mark Jeavons & Ohlo Studio
The Tomich House, designed by the renowned Perth architect Iwan Iwanoff, stands as a remarkable architectural gem in Western Australia, sitting atop the highest point of City Beach – along with its distinctive architecture, the people connected to the Tomich House and its famed social gatherings have been equally colorful.
The Tomich House won Australian Home of the Year in 1972, as well as the International Design Award for Excellence in 1978. After celebrating its 50th birthday in 2020, the Tomich House has undergone an extraordinary three-year restoration. This pursuit aimed to honour Iwan Iwanoff's legacy, whilst incorporating the obscure and eccentric changes that occurred to the house over its 50 year life with its different owners.
