Lynton Residence, Adelaide
What happens when an architect rescues both a house and its designer from obscurity? At Lynton Residence, architect and mid-century specialist Jet O'Rourke is restoring Dutch architectural engineer Huub van der Pennen's 1962 Adelaide private commission - a house whose designer was completely unknown until O'Rourke's original heritage research recovered van der Pennen's story. Living in and completing the house 60 years on, O'Rourke isn't just preserving van der Pennen's work - he's finishing what van der Pennen started, in the way van der Pennen might have approached it today.
